Relationship Marketing Tip #8 - Anniversaries Come in Many Forms

The previous tip focused on birthdays and sending birthday cards and indeed they are probably the most important piece of marketing material (not advertising) you send each year, but there are other dates to recognize as well. Have you considered recognizing your client and customer anniversaries?

One obvious anniversary is a client's wedding anniversary, and it can certainly be a nice touch to send an anniversary card. However, there are many other types of anniversaries.

Here are just a few types of anniversaries to consider and to spark your imagination:

* years with a company - celebrating someone's career or business duration
* anniversary of an important event such as a house closing or promotion
* graduation or completion of a significant project or program
* buying a great boat
* receiving a significant award

By sharing recognition, respect, and remembrance of something that happened in someone's life, especially if you were involved to some degree with that event or occurrence, you express your appreciation for them, which is a nice thing to do as well as a strong way to underscore your relationship.
