The Education Committee of the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce sponsors Career Days at local schools. Area business people and professionals spend the morning talking with groups of kids about their jobs and businesses. It's a lot of fun and lets kids talk with adults in a fairly informal setting.
The Education Committee is headed by Todd Godbey, local publisher of Kidsville News, a school and community related publication.
I attended the Career Day last year at North Brunswick High School and again this year. As a former high school teacher (14 years teaching English in an exurban Granby, CT), it felt like going home, sorta. Last year I published photos of the crowds and individual kids. No one complained but I kinda thought maybe with privacy issues and concerns it might be better just to show some of the adults who participated in the event.
This first shot is my Broker-in-Charge, Denise Kinney who daily herds me and my fellow REALTORs at the Leland office of Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Realty.
This shot is a line up of volunteers, which included an executive chef, contractors, bankers, nurses, and attorneys.
There's Denise again, listening to Todd give us instructions on how the morning program will run. Attorney Keith Calder is just beyond Denise.
Todd Godbey explaining the day. Also, the other guy in red, on the right, is Mark Koval of Communities in Schools - another good guy whose organization works to benefit local schools and of course the children.
Todd is a great guy and a hard worker. He was also recently elected to the NBCC Board of Directors.
So, no photos of kids, but thanks to all who participated and especially to the Education Committee, headed by Todd.
