Mango Furniture Unlimited Is Having a Grand Opening and You Really Ought to Plan On Attending

Without a doubt the yummiest place to be on the west side of the Cape Fear Rive next Wednesday late afternoon will be at Mango Furniture Unlimited. Partners Pia Hackley and Bob Bethel are having a grand opening at their Leland, NC furniture and design store and you don't want to miss it.

First of all, do you like mango? If you're not sure, here's what they look like:

Pia, who we know is an over-the-top incredible cook from the great dishes she served at Mango's ribbon-cutting a few weeks ago, is busy preparing an all-mango menu.

Check it out from a list I was able to get from Bob this afternoon:

  • Shrimp/mango lettuce wraps with green curry mango sauce
  • Jerked pork tenderloins with mango salso
  • Mango bread
  • Mango pineapple pudding
  • Mango line cream pie
  • Mango martinis
  • Mango ice tea
Sound good? You can bet it will be.

That's Bob below behind the counter in the back of the huge furniture store. Wandering around is a lot of fun and you'll for sure see a lot to like.

If you can't wait, you can find out more about the store at the Mango Furniture Unlimited web site. Otherwise, we'll see you there next Wednesday!

Ray Borges Ribbon Cutting - July 23, 2010

RJB Tax Associates LLC recently moved to new office space on Poole Road in Leland. Naturally that meant an opportunity for another ribbon-cutting and a chance for local business folks to turn out to celebrate, cut the ribbon, and have lunch!

Here's the opening shot as everyone smiles and Ray's poised to cut the ribbon.

Marge Brown of Quantum Results Coaching, Ray Borges, and Monica Clark (oh yeah, and I'm on the left).

Marge and Ray.

Ray's mom with Carolyn Pirnat of Asset Storage and Kerry Kasotsky of Health Choice One.

NBM and SBM photographer and account exec Wendy Hunt.

Wendy and me.

The indubitable Nick Arbia of ADT.

Mike Triggiano of Mailbox Express.

Ken Schiess of HDVvest, Nick Arbia, Lee Ann Mitchell Bolton of the Magnolia Greens Comfort Suites Hotel, and Alice Razzano from the Newcomers Club.

Carolyn, Kerry, Safe Surroundings' Rick Paxton, and Monica.

A successful cut!

And then we scooted back inside because it was hot! Thanks again Ray and congratulations.

Grayson Park Business After Hours for the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce

It's been a few weeks (a month really) since the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce had a Business After Hours, so yesterday, despite heavy local rain and traffic-bedeviled bridges from Wilmington, NC, we had a successful event hosted by Grayson Park, a Steven Fine Homes community in Leland, NC.

When we arrived the appetizers were laid out and we dug in, awaiting the heavier stuff that was stuck in traffic (for two hours!).

NBCC board member and publisher of NBM and SBM magazines Justin Williams.

Our host was Grayson Park's Dennis Nipini (left), here talking with Connie Reeves and Mr. and Ms. Roy Lettiri.

Linda Cheers, Account Exec with The Brunswick Beacon with Shelton Herb Farm's Margaret Shelton.

Facing the camera are Cape Fear Merchant Services James Shoemaker and Frank Williams of Pioneer Strategies - both are NBCC board members.

NBCC board member Ken Schiess of HDVest with NBCC stalwarts Scott and Connie Reeves of Azalea Plaza.

NBCC Executive Director Dana Fisher with her fiance, Charlie Rivenbark - Charlie's with Maus, Marwick, Matthews commercial REALTORs and a member of the Wilmington City Council.

James Bozeman on the left with Mike Leggett, NBCC board member and photographer and writer for The Local News Review.

Charlie Rivenbark talking with rained upon NBCC board member Franklin Rouse of State Farm Insurance.

Karen Chevrotee of Wilmington South Realty.

NBCC Ambassador Dave Seaton of Pestco with Chad Gilliam from SeaWatch.

Helping themselves at the buffet table are Sweet Nectar Florist's Jerry Rivenbark and Steven Kennedy. This company is  a generous support to the NBCC and the North Brunswick Community - thanks, guys.

Marge Brown of Quantum Results Coaching (yay, Marge!) with Gina Schiess.

So I had to get these guys to smile for the camera. Joe Gaughan (left), an account exec with WECT6 television and Michael Triggiano, General Manager of the Mailbox Express in Leland, and I were having (what I thought anyway was) an hilarious discussion. And  then when I pulled out the camera, they posed.

So naturally I hollered something inane and got them to smile. A whole lot better, don't you think? (Thanks guys, you're both good sports about this.)

One last photo before Marge and I left of Dennis Nipini with Nancy Hall Associate Publisher Jeff Harvell, talking with Linda and Bob Baer.

Thanks to Craig Stevens of Stevens Fine Homes for hosting this event which was successful and a lot of fun despite the heavy rains and traffic.

NBCC Ribbon Cutting at The Brunswick Beacon

The Brunswick Beacon recently joined the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce. That always calls for a ribbon-cutting.

Here's the view of the front desk.

North Brunswick Chamber Executive Director Dana Fisher and Brunswick Beacon Advertising Manager Angie Sutton.

Linda Cheers works in advertising for the Brunswick Beacon and she's an Ambassador for the North Brunswick Chamber.

Ever wonder how the modern newspaper printing process works? Here's my simplified version:
Once all the content including ads are written, designed, and assembled, they're fed to the printing line via this big box-y looking computer.

The press run starts here.

And it comes out here! (With help from 6 people who make sure all it all runs smoothly.)

Next the inserts are added to the printed papers. Here's the stuffing line (I don't know what they call it, but you get the idea).

And that's what happens before the papers are put on trucks and taken wherever they're going.

Reporter Sarah Wilson.

Dana Fisher with Brunswick Beacon Publisher Scott Harrell - we always bring big scissors, but they had even larger ones. So now we have scissor envy. (Ooops, I forgot - Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's scissors.)

Managing Editor Stacey Manning.

A line up of mostly North Brunswick Chamber folks who turned out for the ribbon-cutting. Rick Paxton James Shoemaker, Kerry Kasotsky, Monica Clark, Dana Fisher, Nick Arbia, Lee Ann Mitchell Bolton, Dave Seaton, Michael Triggiano, Frank Williams, Julie LaMay, and Brunswick Beacon Publisher Scott Harrell.

Getting ready to cut the ribbon.

Kerry, Linda, Monica, Jamie, Scott, Julie, Nick, Dave, and Michael.

After the cut they get to keep the piece of ribbon. (Not sure what they do with it, maybe use it in beauty contests?)

And here it is, in the air, another successful ribbon-cutting.

Welcome to the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce, we're proud to have you as members.

Marge Brown of Quantum Results Coaching with Barry Eagle, Managing Partner of the Comfort Suites Magnolia Greens Hotel.

Also from Comfort Suites the newly married Lee Ann Mitchell Bolton, with Marge.

Bruce and Lee Ann.

Nick Arbia of ADT (he's also pro DJ), board member Terry Grillo of Capeside Animal Hospital, Frank Doherty of Oak Island, and Justin Williams.

Justin Smith of Whiteville is working on U.S. Representative Mike McIntyre's campaign.

Marge with board member Alice Razzano of the Newcomers Club.

Justin and I were two of only a few men wearing shorts. Because there was an HVAC malfunction in the facility, I think we were lucky.

Connie Reeves, an outgoing board member who also was in charge of organizing the Annual Meeting spoke to the crowd. Connie is also very active with the Cape Fear Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Introducing new board members (L to R) James Shoemaker, Ken Schiess, Peggy O'Leary, and Alice Razzano. To Bruce's left is Executive Director Dana Fisher. Terry Grillo,  between George Murray and Dana is also new board member as is Drew Roper of BB&T who was not able to attend the meeting.

Despite the warmth, we had a fine time and great food. I want to personally thank the many North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce directors, ambassadors, and members as well as the representatives of our area who came to the event and who help in so many ways to benefit the economic development of North Brunswick County.
