NBCC Ribbon Cutting at The Brunswick Beacon

The Brunswick Beacon recently joined the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce. That always calls for a ribbon-cutting.

Here's the view of the front desk.

North Brunswick Chamber Executive Director Dana Fisher and Brunswick Beacon Advertising Manager Angie Sutton.

Linda Cheers works in advertising for the Brunswick Beacon and she's an Ambassador for the North Brunswick Chamber.

Ever wonder how the modern newspaper printing process works? Here's my simplified version:
Once all the content including ads are written, designed, and assembled, they're fed to the printing line via this big box-y looking computer.

The press run starts here.

And it comes out here! (With help from 6 people who make sure all it all runs smoothly.)

Next the inserts are added to the printed papers. Here's the stuffing line (I don't know what they call it, but you get the idea).

And that's what happens before the papers are put on trucks and taken wherever they're going.

Reporter Sarah Wilson.

Dana Fisher with Brunswick Beacon Publisher Scott Harrell - we always bring big scissors, but they had even larger ones. So now we have scissor envy. (Ooops, I forgot - Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's scissors.)

Managing Editor Stacey Manning.

A line up of mostly North Brunswick Chamber folks who turned out for the ribbon-cutting. Rick Paxton James Shoemaker, Kerry Kasotsky, Monica Clark, Dana Fisher, Nick Arbia, Lee Ann Mitchell Bolton, Dave Seaton, Michael Triggiano, Frank Williams, Julie LaMay, and Brunswick Beacon Publisher Scott Harrell.

Getting ready to cut the ribbon.

Kerry, Linda, Monica, Jamie, Scott, Julie, Nick, Dave, and Michael.

After the cut they get to keep the piece of ribbon. (Not sure what they do with it, maybe use it in beauty contests?)

And here it is, in the air, another successful ribbon-cutting.

Welcome to the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce, we're proud to have you as members.

Carillon Assisted Living Business After Hours

Carillon Assisted Living of Southport recently joined the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce so you know what happened, right? We had a ribbon cutting and they hosted this month's Business After Hours!

In the photo below NBCC Executive Director Dana Fisher poses with Kathy Kibler, Carillon's Marketing Director.

A truly cool line up of walkers outside the Carillon dining room.

Gathering by the main entrance for the ribbon ceremony.

Posed, poised, and ready to cut.

Check it out, the ribbon's still in the air after the cut.

Congratulations Jan and Kathy and the entire staff and residents of Carillon Assisted Living. Welcome to the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce - we're proud to have you as members. And thanks for the hospitality!

Best Western Westgate Hotel Ribbon Cutting 4-22-2010

A second new hotel has opened in Leland. The Best Western/Westgate Inn is already in business and it's a beautiful facility. Yesterday they had a grand opening party and ribbon cutting.

Fat City Cards' Marge Brown and North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Dana Fisher.

Entertainment provided a nice background during the celebration.

Marge with hotel General Manager Corey Gooden.

Hotel Managing Partner Riley Evans with Dennis Walsh of Charlie MacGrooders. Dennis catered this event and will also be running Monk's, a lunch and dinner eatery inside the hotel - that is too cool.

Riley Evans, Scott "Santa Claus" Reeves, and Robert Evans, Riley's brother and another of the hotel's owners (it's a family-owned established).

Welcoming Corey are Barry Eagle and Lee Ann Mitchell, the Comfort Suites Magnolia Greens General Manager/Partner and Marketing Director.

Corey and Barry - two people who run hotels across the street from each other.

NBCC board members Brenda Bozeman and Mike Leggett.

Lyn Preston with Alice Razzano.

Leland Police Department Community Relations Officer Corporal Robert Ernst and East Carolina Bank Manager Susan Cruse.

Corey Gooden, NBCC President George Murray, and Dana Fisher.

NBCC Ambassador Ken Schiess, board member Justin Williams, and Rev. Matthew L. Ernst on the board for the Brunswick Literacy Council, with board member Jeff Harvell in the background.

Big gathering for the ribbon cutting.

And once again, it worked! Yay.

The lounge area. The food was awesome and we all partook - some of us (like me) more than once.

I don't know all their names but this a family shot of many of the people who own and run the Best Western/Westgate Inn.

Welcome, folks. We're glad to have you in the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce. And thanks for the great party!
