How to Run a Golf Tournament

Last week at Cape Fear National golf course in Brunswick Forest a bunch of folks who have or plan to run golf tournaments in Southeastern North Carolina were invited to attend a seminar run by the gentleman below, Phil Immordino of the Golf Tournament Association of America.

This is what Phil does for a living, traveling the country giving this seminar. He also sells books and materials and consults with groups that host and run tournaments. It was a hugely informative, entertaining three hours that went very quickly and I'm sure will benefit many local tournaments. I know we've already decided to implement some of the ideas in ours. If you're looking for great info on golf tournaments, check out the Golf Tournament Association of America website at this link.

Cape Fear National's Big Three: Head Pro Ron Thompson; General Manager Chad Anderson; Marketing Manager Brad Walker. Good guys all.

This is Douglas Malecki, CEO of Ad in the Hole. He's got a cool product, an advertising piece that goes literally "in the cup". Doug's web site is http://www.aithusa.com.

This is the bar/lounge of Cape Fear National. Nice set up.

The pro shop will be heavy on apparel, light on equipment.

Virginia Forbis of Nike.

At the end of the session, before we broke for (an excellent) lunch, Brad Walker spoke with us briefly about the course and booking tournaments. My advice - call Brad soon if you want a good date in 2010!

You know, of course this was marketing and they want us to book tournaments at Cape Fear National, but it sure was generous for Brad, Chad and Ron to host this seminar for us. Great info, nice company, some good networking, and a a super lunch. Thanks to all involved.

Golfers - Have Lunch and , Learn about Cape Fear National, and Learn How to be Enter a Drawing for a Team Spot in the 1st Tournament

Here's a chance you'll never get again. A chance to enter a drawing to play in the first tournament held in a major new championship-level tournament in southeastern North Carolina.

On November 5th, 2009 the first major tournament will be held at Cape Fear National Golf Course. Organized by the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce in support of Leland, North Carolina's Unity Group, the tournament proceeds will be used for the annual Christmas Parade and Festival, held this year on December 12th in Leland.

Tournament sponsorships are available for $1,000, team sponsors are $600, and individual playing spots are still available for $150 each. There is a way, however, to play for free, and that's if you win one of four spots on the Fat City Cards sponsored team. You can e-mail or call me for more information about all of the above, but you can also come to a luncheon this Wednesday, September 9th at Antonio's Restaurant in Leland and find out how to be entered in a drawing for one of the four slots on our team.

At the luncheon (which will cost $5) you'll hear from Brad Walker, Sales and Marketing Director for Cape Fear National. Brad will have a presentation about the new golf course and answer questions about tournament and regular play.

Also, Dr. Matthew Bradshaw of the Leland Health Center will talk about golf injuries and prevention.

Bruce Brown (that's me) will also show a short video about the SendOutCards greeting card system - a video on using SendOutCards in personal life and business and about SendOutCards as a business opportunity.

So here's how you can be entered in the drawing for a tournament spot at The Christmas Festival Tournament at Cape Fear National:

Anyone who signs up between August 22 and October 30th as a new Entrepreneur Level Distributor with SendOutCards on the Fat City Cards team, either directly with Marge and I or indirectly with one of our team members (which includes the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce) will be entered in the drawing, which will take place on October 30th. Winners will be notified on the 30th and may either use the team spot themselves or assign it to someone else (like a golf-loving family member or business associate or client).

So come to lunch at Antonio's this Wednesday, bring $5, hear about the Cape Fear National, learn about about golf injuries and injury prevention, and find out a bit about SendOutCards. If you're coming, that's great, please just call Marge Brown at (910) 431-1508 or e-mail her at margejbrown@yahoo.com to reserve your seat.
