Wilmington Twestival Planning Proceeding

Yesterday a second meeting of the Wilmington Twestival planning group met, this time at The River Room at 18 S Water Street in downtown Wilmington, North Carolina. Wilmington Twestival will be held on March 25th from 5:30-10:00PM. Admission will be $20 per person with every penny going to Concern Worldwide. "One hundred percent of all donations to Concern Worldwide will go directly to fund education programs for the poorest, most marginalized children in developing countries."

The photo below is from from Wilmington Twestival 2009.

Wilmington Twestival

Twestival will be held March 25th this year at The River Room. Today Ty Downing, the official chief Twestival organizer, held the first planning meeting.

Sarah Barbee of FussBudget Promotions is in the house and planning food and drink.

Lori Lorusso of Perspective Internet Marketing is overseeing who's doing what. Shannan Bowen of the StarNews is doing a whole lot including talking with entertainers.

David Nye and Greg Tumolo of Frankdeals.com are working with vendors, sponsors, seems like pretty much everything.

So, for a start, here's a Facebook Fan Page . The Twitter account is http://twitter.com/ilmtwestival, but all last year's content has been erased, so hang in for that. Web site coming soon. Here are the major deets: March 25, 5:30-10PM, The River Room at 18 S Water Street in Wilmington, NC, at least one band, 20 bucks to get in, all goes to Twestival (which means water and survival level assistance in parts of the world that dearly need it), there will be door prizes, t-shirts for the first ticket buyers, lots of fun, lots of good folks and all for a good cause. Chime in, help out, show up.

Wilmington Twestival a Big Splash!

I don't know exactly how much money was raised for Twestival to build wells for drinking water in Africa or exactly how many people did show up at the Wilmington Twestival event last evening at Port City Pub. Those facts and stats will come elsewhere. What I do know is that a lot of folks showed up, there was positive energy in abundance, and we had a great time!

The Star News was there, not only as sponsors but also to report the event. Here's the link for the story in the Star News Online.

The founder of 3rd Street Plaza and major organizer of Wilmington Twestival Ty Downing kicked off the event.

Greeter and hostess Crystal Glass-Downing talks with RaDonna Torgeson, one of the big drawing winners of the night. RaDonna won a week's Surf Camp lessons from IndoJax Surf School.

Wilmington Twestival - Access to Clean Water

If pictures tell a story better than words and videos better than pictures, please watch these three videos about Wilmington's Twestival event this Thursday evening from 6-10PM at Port City Pub, 121 Grace Street in downtown Wilmington. The cause is access to clean drinking water for people around the world, via "charity: water." Tickets are $15 in advance on www.wilmington.twestival.com or $20 at the door. Food, drink, drawings, karaokee, networking, fun.

Here's a nicely done slide-video set to music:
